Sighs "echoed" through Sarajevo, 175 victims to find peace

A truck with the remains of 175 identified victims of the genocide against Bosniaks committed in 1995 in Srebrenica arrived in Sarajevo, after departing from Visoko towards the Srebrenica Memorial Center in Potočari, reports the Patria News Agency. Thousands of citizens took to the streets of Sarajevo to pay tribute to the innocent Bosniaks who perished in the genocide, reports NAP's correspondent.

Among the citizens were mostly the victims' families. Many BiH politicians also came to the building of the Presidency of BiH to pay tribute to the innocent victims. Among them were Željko Komšić, member of the BiH Presidency, FBiH Vice-Presidents Mirsad Kebo and Živko Budimir, as well as numerous parliamentarians and representatives from all levels of government.

With great pain and sorrow, the families of the victims could not hide their tears, and the cries of mothers echoed through the streets of Sarajevo. Always the same questions, "how long will the pain last?"

- It will last as long as I live, every thought of what they did to my loved ones eats away at me. It is a disgrace how the Hague and the courts treat the perpetrators. That eats at me even more - says a Srebrenica mother, unable to finish her sentence due to tears.

The send-off in Visoko was also attended today by the independent candidate for the Presidency of BiH, Dr. Mustafa ef. Cerić, as well as the Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Government, Munib Husejnagić, and Minister Mirko Trifunović.

The mournful procession moved along the route Visoko - highway - Vogošća, after which it arrived in Sarajevo, from where it will proceed through Alipašina and Titova streets. Stops in Sarajevo, besides in front of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina building, were also at the Monument to the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo, and at the site of the Markale market massacre.

During the passage of the convoy through Sarajevo, traffic was completely blocked. After the send-off from Sarajevo, the truck will then go through Lepešnica, Sokolac, Vlasenica, Milići, Bratunac, and Srebrenica, with arrival at the Potočari Memorial Center planned for around 5 PM.

So far, 6,066 victims of the Srebrenica genocide have been buried at the Memorial Center in Potočari.
