Pollution alert: Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton removes Euro 2 vehicles from traffic

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Due to severe air pollution and the declaration of an Alert episode, members of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton are removing vehicles with Euro 2 standard from traffic, announced today from the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

"In accordance with the Emergency measures and recommendations for action in the Alert state, members of the MUP KS, together with the Cantonal Inspectorate, are conducting vehicle inspections in traffic," reads the Facebook page of the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

In addition to the ban on using vehicles with Euro 2 standard, other measures have been determined, such as the ban on using solid fuels and heavy oils for all persons, as well as the suspension of classes if necessary.

The Government of Sarajevo Canton recommends wearing protective masks, that citizens do not go outside unless necessary, do not smoke, do not vacuum, do not light candles, and other measures. The Government of Sarajevo Canton, due to severe air pollution, declared an Alert episode today. Sarajevo is once again the capital with the highest air pollution in the world.
