(Patria) – Uzbekistan will close its capital, Tashkent, from March 24 to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
Tashkent, which has more than 2.5 million inhabitants, accounts for 45 out of a total of 46 cases of infection currently present in Uzbekistan.
Public transport has been suspended in the capital, and most residents are working from home.
Central Asian countries are among the last to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
