Amid rising gas and electricity prices, citizens cannot share Prime Minister Novalić's optimism

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Fadil Novalić, on behalf of the FBiH Government and personally, extended New Year's greetings to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although for 2022, a price increase for gas and electricity has already been announced, primarily for the economy, this will inevitably affect citizens as well, so in the difficult situation we are in, there is little or no reason for celebration. 

“Dear fellow citizens, I sincerely wish that 2022 brings us good health, happiness, and success, as well as opportunities to continue the positive recovery trends from the consequences caused by the coronavirus pandemic. I remind you that, in the year we are leaving behind, the Government of the Federation of BiH made maximum efforts to provide essential assistance to the most important economic sectors, not only in overcoming problems but also for a significant growth and achieving results that we had before the pandemic, and for preserving jobs. Despite the pandemic, we have maintained budget stability and regularly settled obligations, and continuously paid pensions, benefits for the veteran population, and civil disability pensions.

We also provided significant financial support to the healthcare sector in FBiH. The FBiH Government will continue in this direction in 2022, and preparations for a whole set of measures to further strengthen economic activities are already underway. With the planned increase in pensions and salaries, creating conditions for opening new jobs, continuing work on major infrastructure projects, greater assistance to the social sector, and other activities, I hope that the year we are welcoming will bring more faith in the future.

Therefore, I invite you to welcome 2022 with optimism, and I extend my sincerest New Year's greetings,” says Prime Minister Novalić's holiday greeting.
