25,000 Bottle Caps Used: Presentation of 'Čepoćilim' on March 18 at SCC

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After three years of work, through 35 art eco workshops organized by the Green Art Association and local communities, involving more than 700 citizens, the project to create a bottle-cap rug measuring 30 square meters, for which 25,000 plastic caps were needed, has been completed. Citizens, elementary school children, and members of the Green Art Association also took part in the cap collection campaigns. 

The President of the Association, Alma Hrasnica-Dervišević, told the Patria agency that the presentation of the Čepoćilim project will be held on March 18 at the SCC, where it will be on display until March 22, 2019. 

"The space is phenomenal because we will be able to experience the visual of the mosaic from a height, which will be a special experience. After that, we are working on its permanent installation in a space. The Tourist Board of the Sarajevo Canton has supported us so that ČEPOĆILIM becomes a new tourist attraction in the Sarajevo Canton.

The bottle-cap rug, made in the motif of a stylized pattern of a Bosnian rug, will be placed as a freestanding exhibit in a public area.

- We believe that its attractive, stylized pattern of a Bosnian rug is a phenomenal and very appealing backdrop for photos for tourists, both local and foreign, who come to visit Sarajevo, which the Tourist Board of the Sarajevo Canton recognized and supported the project's realization. At the same time, we are promoting cultural heritage in an innovative way, as a fusion of culture and ecology. With this exhibit, we want to make Sarajevo a symbol of an environmentally conscious city – says Hrasnica-Dervišević, who had the help of her husband Akif Dervišević. 

Hrasnica-Dervišević is an academic graphic designer and holds the status of a distinguished independent artist. For this project, she designed the total project design, creative and visual concept, and put her professional knowledge and experience in the world of design, media, and visual communication at the service of the benefit of society and environmental protection.
