Law on Reporting and Origin of Property of Public Officials Adopted

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Bill on Reporting, Origin, and Control of Property of Elected Officials, Holders of Executive Functions, and Advisors in the Sarajevo Canton was unanimously adopted today in the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton.

The proposed law mandates that holders of public office be obliged to report their existing property and income, the origin and changes in their property and income, as well as gifts received during their public service.

The proposal also stipulates fines ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 KM for delays in annual property reporting, from 10,000 to 20,000 KM for failure to report property upon taking office, and from 3,000 to 6,000 KM for repeated offenses.

One of the reasons for adopting this law is the obligation arising from international conventions ratified by Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically the Conventions on Combating Corruption, according to the proposer, the current cantonal government.

Its intention is transparent work and the fight against corruption, it was also stated.

The Sarajevo Canton Office for Combating Corruption and Quality Management will be responsible for the implementation of the law.
