Rulebook on Internal Organisation of BiH Border Police Adopted, Number of Border Police Officers Increased by 469

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina at today's session in the second round of voting adopted the Rulebook on Internal Organisation of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of resolving the long-standing problem of a shortage of border police officers.

The Rulebook systematises a total of 3,120 positions, which is 474 more positions compared to the previous rulebook, among which are 469 police officers.

The adoption of this rulebook aims to increase efficiency and enable more functional work of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to enhance security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The increase in the number of police officers follows the construction and opening of new border crossings, the increase in capacity and throughput of existing border crossings and international flights at international airports, as well as the increasing complexity of the situation on and around the border due to migrations towards our country.

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Ministry of Security, adopted a Decision on establishing the Plan for the admission of cadets to police agencies at the level of institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2025.

The Decision established the Plan for the admission of cadets, namely to the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Plan for the admission of cadets of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina provides for the training and employment of 150 cadets for the rank of police officer, and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 70 cadets for the rank of police officer, with the training to begin in 2026, and employment in 2026 and 2027.

Funds for the payment of compensation to cadets and for financing the employment of police officers will be secured in the budgets of the Border Police and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other funds necessary for the training of cadets in the budget of the Agency for Education and Professional Training of Personnel.
