Draft Law on Conflict of Interest in FBiH Adopted

(Patria) - At the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the draft law on amendments to the law on conflict of interest in government bodies in FBiH, proposed by representative Irfan Čengić and delegate Elmedin Konaković, was adopted.

For eight years, there has been no body implementing the Law on Conflict of Interest in FBiH, and I have been fighting for three years to resolve this issue in the FBiH Parliament. The next step is for the House of Peoples to adopt the draft law, and I believe that delegates Čampara and Konaković will succeed in putting the draft law on the agenda of the next session of the House of Peoples. After that, a public debate and consideration of the bill in both houses will follow," states Čengić.

Also, along with the adopted draft text, representative Čengić accepted the proposed amendments by representative Adnan Efendić, which are now an integral part of the law.

He emphasizes that resolving the issues in this area is among the 14 priorities from the European Commission's Opinion for BiH, and that in this way they are contributing to the European path of BiH. This law only enables the implementation of the current law, which has not been implemented for 8 years.

"In addition to this law, I have also submitted a systemic law and reform in this area, but in this mandate, I do not have the strength to pass such a solution, because the forces working against regulation in accordance with EU recommendations are too strong in their blockades. First and foremost, this is the Federal Ministry of Justice," emphasized Čengić.
