Sarajevo City Budget for 2026 Adopted at 26,154,700 KM

(Patria) - At today's session of the Sarajevo City Council, councilors adopted the Sarajevo City Budget for 2026 by majority vote in the amount of 26,154,700 KM, which is 15.85% higher than the previous year.

Mayor Samir Avdić thanked the city councilors for their support and the constructive process of adopting this most important act for the functioning of the City of Sarajevo, emphasizing that it is "very important that we take care of the public good".

According to this key strategic document, the City of Sarajevo will implement a series of important infrastructure projects next year, with significant support for cultural, educational, developmental and elite sports projects, as well as indispensable projects dedicated to youth.

"Clean Miljacka River" is the highest priority and one of the most strategically important projects, for which funds are allocated in the budget, followed by the renovation and reconstruction of Bistrički potok, Koševski potok, renovation of cascades in the riverbed, and removal of river silt and deposits.

Among the priorities that will continue next year is the project of reconstruction, restoration, and coloristic treatment of facades in Sarajevo.

Works will be carried out on the buildings of the First Gymnasium, the National Theatre Sarajevo, and the Public Institution Elementary School "Safvet-beg Bašagić". This project contributes to the preservation of cultural and educational heritage, while simultaneously improving the visual identity of the city.

Within capital transactions, a series of key development projects are planned, among which the following stand out:
‣ renovation and construction of playgrounds, parks, public areas, and promenades, to improve urban space and the quality of life for citizens;
‣ co-financing of improvements to spatial and material conditions in primary and secondary schools in Sarajevo, which contributes to higher quality education and a safe environment for students;
‣ co-financing of the Faletići sports and recreation zone, as part of the strategy for the development of sports and recreational infrastructure;
‣ co-financing of the construction and renovation of the Ćumurija Bridge, which is key to connecting parts of the city and improving traffic infrastructure;
‣ co-financing of the Central Memorial Monument Novo Sarajevo, as part of preserving the historical and cultural identity of the city.

The implementation of the budget will enable further progress in key sectors, strengthening social cohesion and sustainable development of the urban environment, ensuring that Sarajevo remains a city open to development and opportunities for all its citizens.
