Adoption of the FBiH Forest Law is a Priority for the Present for the Future of this Country!

(Patria) - Authorities in the Federation of BiH were called today to adopt the Forest Law as soon as possible to prevent illegal logging and illegal occupation of state forest land.

The call came from today's protests organized by the Aarhus Center Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina in front of the FBiH Parliament.

It was stated at the protests that such a law has not existed in the Federation of BiH since 2009, which is why "support for investors" often comes at the expense of public interest, as the reallocation of state forest land is carried out for the benefit of individuals or companies, while the importance of forest conservation for the wider community is neglected.

The law adopted in 2002 was repealed due to unconstitutionality on November 27, 2009.

From then until today, this area in FBiH has not been legally regulated. The Forest Law is part of the Reform Agenda package, but at one point it was also the subject of a deadlock in the work of the FBiH Parliament.

Politically, the non-adoption of the FBiH Forest Law was most contributed to by HDZ BiH, because that party insisted that ownership of forests cannot be federal, but municipal.

Financially, it is clear that tycoons and those they call investors benefit from the legal vacuum to destroy forest wealth for the sake of profit!

And that is why the adoption of the Forest Law is a priority for the present for the future of this country and its citizens, who, if the trends continue, will soon face problems of water and oxygen shortages, landslides, and the like.
