Constitutional and Legal Committee adopts Saša Magazinović's initiative to amend the Law on the Flag of BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Constitutional and Legal Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has adopted the principles of the Proposal for a Law on Amendments to the Law on the Flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose proposer is SDP BiH MP Saša Magazinović.

The essence of the law is to technically clarify and finally define in one place how the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina is correctly displayed, given that it is a frequent case that the state flag is displayed in an incorrect manner.

Presenting this law at a recently held press conference, Magazinović pointed out that the vast majority of those who incorrectly display the flag do so out of ignorance and due to wrong assumptions, and not out of disrespect for the state of BiH.

BiH received the Law on the Flag in 1998, after which it was amended in 2001 and 2004 in the BiH Parliament. It is one of the simpler laws in Europe that deals with this area, prescribing the appearance, dimensions and penal provisions for irregularities in the use of the flag.

With this amendment, the law will be clearer and more precise, and individual interpretations that have resulted in frequent incorrect use of the state flag will be avoided.

Magazinović proposed this law in cooperation with representatives of the heraldic society „Bosona Heraldika“, who prepared an Elaborate analysis of the situation regarding the display and use of the BiH flag.
