Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejects SNSD appeal, saga over state House of Peoples concluded

(Patria) - The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina determined today that the right of the SNSD to free elections was not violated, thus concluding the saga over the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"In case AP-3179/24 (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats - SNSD), the Constitutional Court, among other things, determined that the contested decisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not violate the appellant's right to free elections.

The appellant had the opportunity to effectively participate in the protection of his electoral rights during the repeated proceedings, and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina provided a detailed explanation of its decision, giving answers to all relevant appellant's appeal arguments, in which the Constitutional Court does not see any arbitrariness.

All decisions adopted at the plenary session will be delivered to the applicants/appellants within one month and published as soon as possible on the website of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina", this institution announced today.

Recall, the SNSD had four delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After a series of objections, appeals, and conducted procedures following the General Elections of 2022, the CEC of Bosnia and Herzegovina recognized the disputed ballot of the PDP regarding the election of delegates from the NSRs. The SNSD appealed, and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected the appeal.

The SNSD then lost one delegate by drawing lots - Snježana Novaković Bursać, and instead of her, Nenad Vuković (PDP) entered the House of Peoples.

With this, the SNSD also lost the complete control it had in the House of Peoples. From that party, they submitted an appeal to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which they otherwise do not recognize, and it was rejected today.
