Constitutional Court of BiH a stumbling block for Dodik and Čović: Functioning of BiH institutions is seriously threatened

The agreement between Milorad Dodik and Dragan Čović to weaken the Constitutional Court of BiH by removing foreign judges is unacceptable to all who want a clear and correct path for BiH – which ultimately leads to BiH's membership in the EU, writes Patria.

Many experts point out that the insistence of SNSD President and HDZ BiH President Dodik and Čović on excluding foreigners from the work of the Constitutional Court of BiH is nothing more than a new manipulation.

- Dodik and Čović, unable, to take full control of BiH institutions, have decided to act step by step. The Constitutional Court of BiH is a stumbling block for them, actually Dodik's desire to stop further rulings, such as the one on January 9th as the Day of Republika Srpska. At the same time, Čović's behavior in all this is surprising, because it was the Constitutional Court of BiH, upon the appeal of HDZ BiH officials, that made rulings in the case of the Statute of the City of Mostar, as well as the latest one concerning the "equality of votes" related to the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament – believes analyst Almir Terzić, writes NAP.

He believes that Čović is not actually that angry at the Constitutional Court of BiH as much as he is helping Dodik in his goals, and in return expects that such activities will produce a solution to the so-called Croatian issue.

- This is classic hypocrisy because the renegades from HDZ BiH are responsible for the failure of the April package, which offered a solution for the Croatian people in BiH, and now they are supposedly the same ones filing appeals about endangerment. The hypocrisy of HDZ BiH is even greater because, at their insistence, the Constitutional Court of FBiH declared the Ministry of Education and Science of FBiH and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of FBiH unconstitutional – points out Terzić.

And while others held those positions, it was controversial, and now that the minister in the unconstitutional ministry is from HDZ BiH, it turns out not to be a problem.

- Therefore, this is purely about private, or rather, group party interests of Dodik - Čović, i.e., SNSD - HDZ BiH. At the same time, it is no secret that this very group of individuals and parties wants to take full control of BiH judicial institutions, of which the Constitutional Court of BiH is only one part. The same is happening with the Court of BiH, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, as well as police agencies in BiH, only it sometimes goes unnoticed.
