Fifth DiplomatSKI successfully held on Bjelašnica

(Patria) - A giant slalom race called DiplomatSKI was successfully held on Bjelašnica. The opening ceremony of this traditional event was held by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, Damijan Sedar.

On that occasion, Ambassador Sedar stated: ''The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bosnia and Herzegovina is organizing the giant slalom competition "DiplomatSKI race" for the fifth consecutive time. On this occasion, we will ski on the slope of Olympic silver medalist Jure Franko, of which we are very proud. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a beautiful country with an abundance of opportunities for various sports. We support the active and healthy development of every individual. On this occasion, the skiers of the DiplomatSKI competition will send a message of peace, which is especially important in today's time.

Skiing should bring us closer, strengthen friendships, and encourage cooperation. I thank the Olympic Center Bjelašnica for excellent cooperation.''

As last year, we were visited by special guests from Slovenia – Kurenti, one of the most recognizable symbols of Slovenian cultural heritage. They come from Ptuj, and their primary goal is to drive away winter and evil with noise and wild dance and bring spring. "Kurenti appear at almost all ski competitions, including ours, encouraging skiers, cheering on competitors, and ensuring a special positive atmosphere among spectators," stated Mr. Damijan Sedar.

The DiplomatSKI race is the result of excellent cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia and the Olympic Center Bjelašnica, in which 74 competitors from among representatives of embassies and international organizations, businessmen, and representatives of civil organizations participated. After the successfully completed giant slalom race, all participants of this sports event joined the awards ceremony and Apres-ski party, which was held at Benetton.
