We are soon moving the clocks forward, employers have been warned

(Patria) - In accordance with the Law on Time Calculation (Official Gazette of FBiH no. 24/97 and 50/03), it is prescribed that the summer time calculation begins on the last Sunday of March, and that on Sunday, March 31, 2024, by moving the clock forward by 60 minutes, the time at 02:00 will be counted as 03:00, it was announced from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy on the occasion of the upcoming start of summer time calculation.

The ministry, at the same time, emphasizes the importance of adhering to occupational safety and health standards, "especially during the summer season when we face various challenges".

- High temperatures, sun exposure, and increased outdoor activity can pose a risk to workers' health - it is stated.

Therefore, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy calls on all employers to take all necessary measures in a timely manner to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for their employees during the summer months.

The relevant ministry specifies that this includes providing adequate protection from heat, regular breaks for rest and hydration, as well as adjusting work schedules to avoid exposure to extreme heat during summer days.

- We are aware that the summer season brings increased activity in certain sectors, such as tourism, agriculture, and construction. Therefore, we also call on workers to be particularly careful and to adhere to the prescribed safety measures to protect their health and well-being - the statement reads.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy will, as stated, continue to monitor compliance with legal regulations on occupational safety and health, and cooperate with relevant institutions to enhance the safety and occupational health of all workers.
