Indictment against Debevec and Mehmedagić soon: Mamić admitted gifting a watch, but won't be indicted

(Patria) - The BiH Prosecutor's Office will soon file an indictment against the suspended President of the BiH Court, Ranko Debevec, and former Director of OSA, Osman Mehmedagić, Istraga learns.

Although Debevec will be indicted for receiving a gift (a watch) from Zdravko Mamić, no indictment will be filed against this fugitive from Croatian justice for giving a gift. Mamić, according to Istraga's information, did not receive immunity from prosecution, but regardless, he will not be included in the indictment of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

Herzegovinian businessman Ljiljanko Palac, who admitted to handing over a "bag" given to him by Zdravko Mamić to Ranko Debevec, will also not be included in the indictment.

Therefore, the indictment will be filed against Debevec and Mehmedagić, as well as the employee of the BiH Court, Milisav Pijuk.

The suspended President of the BiH Court, Ranko Debevec, is expected to be indicted on at least four counts, for the criminal offenses of abuse of office and authority, receiving a gift, and violation of gender equality.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office will accuse Debevec of receiving an expensive watch from Zdravko Mamić, the former head of Dinamo Zagreb who fled to BiH from Croatian justice, as a token of gratitude for the BiH judiciary not making a decision on his extradition to Croatia. The "gift" Mamić sent to Debevec was delivered by businessman Ljiljanko Palac. Both Mamić and Palac have admitted their actions. The watch was not found during the search of Ranko Debevec's apartment.

In addition to this, the BiH Prosecutor's Office will accuse Debevec of receiving a "POLO" car from the company Kramar from Herzegovina. The BiH Prosecutor's Office suspects that the company Kramar, also through businessman Ljiljanko Palac, managed to secure a verdict that allowed them more favorable car imports into BiH. In return, a third party, connected to the President of the BiH Court, received a POLO car as a bribe.

Ranko Debevec will also be indicted for committing the criminal offense of "violation of gender equality," because, according to the BiH Prosecutor's Office, he "harassed" an employee of the BiH Court who refused to be in a relationship with him.

And finally, the suspended President of the BiH Court will be indicted for agreeing with Osman Mehmedagić, then Director of OSA, to wiretap two numbers at the BiH Court - the duty number and the number of the pre-trial judge.

The duty number is the phone number used by the judges of the BiH Court during their duty, i.e., mostly from the end of working hours until the beginning of the next working day. The second number was used by the pre-trial judges of the BiH Court. These judges were responsible for issuing search warrants and setting detention. The prosecution claims that Debevec and Mehmedagić conspired to obtain all necessary documents for monitoring four phone numbers (two at the court and two at the BiH Prosecutor's Office). According to the Law on OSA, the President of the Court signs OSA orders for phone monitoring.

Former OSA Director Osman Mehmedagić is also expected to be indicted for issuing three honorary OSA identification cards. The cards were issued to restaurateur Denis Stojnić, who has a criminal record, former Secretary of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs Adi Hadžikapetanović (deceased in the meantime), and Director of the Corruption Fighting Office of Sarajevo Canton, Erduan Kafedžić.

Although the contact of the former president with criminal Đorđe Ždrale was mentioned at one of the hearings for the detention of Debevec and Mehmedagić, this will not be included in the indictment.

As a reminder, Debevec was taken to Đorđe Ždrale's house by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry in Sarajevo, Muhamed Ajanović. According to Istraga's information, Ajanović also connected Debevec with businessman Ljiljanko Palac, who mediated between Zdravko Mamić and the President of the BiH Court.
