USK Ministers and Directors on Trial for Illegal Employment

In Bihać, a crackdown on illegal employment in public institutions and companies has begun. Recently, the Municipal Court in Bihać issued a verdict against Irma Pašić, director of JP RTV USK, for abuse of position during employment. The verdict is final because Pašić reached an agreement with the prosecutors and waived her right to appeal. She was sentenced to a conditional prison term of 6 months, which will not be executed if the defendant does not commit the same criminal offense within one year.

Irma was accused of using her official position to conclude a fixed-term employment contract with Almir Saračević for the position of Journalist – Editor of Cultural and Entertainment Programs, even though she knew that Almir Saračević did not meet the specific requirements for that position. In doing so, the director of JP RTV USK benefited Almir Saračević through illegal employment.

The current cantonal minister of spatial planning, along with former associates from JP Vodovod, will also face trial for illegal employment. The Municipal Court in Bihać fully confirmed the indictment of the USK Prosecutor's Office against Adnan Alagić, Rasim Dervišević, Vlado Franjić, and Aida Sabljaković due to well-founded suspicion that they committed the criminal offense – Abuse of Position or Authority under Article 383, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Contrary to the law and company regulations, they facilitated the employment of five individuals for fixed-term and indefinite periods.

The activities of judicial institutions in USK were also praised by the US Embassy in BiH.
