Equipment handed over for the needs of the Medical Assistance Service

At the premises of the Public Institution „Sarajevo Canton Health Center“, on Monday, December 28, 2015, a handover of medical equipment took place, which the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo procured for the purpose of equipping the Medical Assistance Service formed within the Sarajevo Canton Health Center - Centar Organizational Unit. For the procurement of four sets of equipment each, which will be distributed in the Vrazova Health Center facility and family medicine clinics, 39,000 convertible marks were allocated from the budget of the Municipality of Centar, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

On behalf of Mayor Dževad Bećirević, the handover agreement was presented by Jasna Beba, secretary of the municipal administrative body, who emphasized on this occasion that the Municipality of Centar, led by Mayor Bećirević, has a long-standing practice of procuring medical equipment for the needs of this public institution, all with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare for our citizens.

- The donated equipment will be used by the Medical Assistance Service formed within this institution. I believe that, as before, this equipment will be of great benefit, primarily to our citizens. In case of emergencies, the aforementioned medical service, as well as the donated equipment, will be made available to the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Centar - Beba said.

The Director of the Public Institution „Sarajevo Canton Health Center“, Milan Mioković, emphasized that the donation from the Municipality of Centar is very valuable.

- We are especially grateful to Mayor Bećirević. Given our many years of successful cooperation with the Municipality of Centar, we plan to submit a new request for the donation of necessary medical equipment for the next year, as well as for the renovation of the family medicine clinic buildings, in order to provide even better healthcare for our patients - Mioković said.

Prim. dr. Zaim Jatić, Head of Family Medicine at the Public Institution „Sarajevo Canton Health Center“ and Head of the Medical Assistance Service, spoke about the purpose of the donated equipment.

– Today we received an external defibrillator, which we use in case of cardiac arrest in patients and is suitable for both adults and children. We also received sets of laryngeal masks, which are necessary in cases of respiratory arrest. With the help of an "ambu bag", which is also part of the donated equipment, we push air into the patient's lungs, enabling them artificial respiration. We also received an oxygen concentrator, whose role is to take oxygen from the air that we give to the patient, and this device replaces heavy oxygen cylinders that empty quickly - Jatić explained.

Mustafa Resić, advisor to the mayor, Vahid Bećirević, assistant mayor for civil protection, Fahrudin Kurtović, assistant mayor for finance, and Osmo Babić, assistant mayor for work, health, and social issues, refugees, and displaced persons, also attended the handover of medical equipment on behalf of the Municipality of Centar.
