Office for Combating Corruption on Noted Irregularities in Construction and Spatial Planning

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Office for Combating Corruption and Quality Management of Sarajevo Canton will hold a press conference today on the topic: "Corruption in Construction and Spatial Planning in Sarajevo Canton".

On this occasion, educational and informational video material titled "By Whose Measure?" will be presented to the public, initiated and realized by the Office, with the help and support of the Embassy of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of pointing out irregularities and corruption risks that the Office has noticed and identified during its work on received corruption reports in this area, with a special emphasis on the impact these irregularities have on the quality of life of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, i.e., on the environment and natural resources.

The film shows individual examples reported to the Office, relating to the construction of a sports and recreational center on Bjelašnica, the construction of buildings in several Sarajevo neighborhoods with an emphasis on Tibra and Nova Otoka, construction in the water protection zone on Ilidža, the construction of the Vidikovac viewpoint on Trebević, the Sarajevo Tower building...

What will be highlighted at today's press conference is the connection between politics and construction companies, meaning that these companies participate in financing political parties.

More details about the noted irregularities will be presented by the Head of the Office, Erduan Kafedžić, and it is planned that the Ambassador of the United States of America, Eric Nelson, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johan Sattler, the Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kathleen Kavalec, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Matthew Field, and the Ambassador of Sweden, Johanna Stromquist, will also address the present media representatives at this press conference.

The press conference will be held in the Geneva hall, on the fourth floor of the Swissotel, Vrbanja 1 street, at 11 AM.
