Expressed Gratitude: All 136 Students of the Secondary Medical School Went on a Trip

Students of the Bjelave Secondary Medical School managed to go on a trip thanks to funds raised through their own work, with support from the Municipality of Stari Grad.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, decided to support the idea of these young people when, in February of this year, they offered to do all sorts of jobs to earn money for a trip for those students who could not afford it.

- We decided to join this initiative because it is very commendable that you want to earn money through your work and effort. Unfortunately, not many people think that way today. We will support your idea and pay you for your work, and in doing so, you will send a message to your school friends that everything can be achieved in life through work and effort - Mayor Hadžibajrić said at the time.

A few weeks later, about 70 diligent students from this school cleaned the banks of the Miljacka River and the Alley of Ambassadors promenade. They collected about 100 bags of various waste, bags, bottles, tree branches, paper, and even old clothes. These students were paid for their engagement, and at the beginning of the week, Dženan Hodžić, a student who initiated this action, contacted us to thank the Municipality of Stari Grad and inform us about their successful trip.

- We went on a trip to Budapest, Prague, and Vienna. There were 136 of us, and through our work, we raised funds for 36 students who otherwise would not have been able to pay for the trip. This was the best experience of my life. We are immensely grateful to the Municipality of Stari Grad and Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić for being among the first to support our initiative and engage us to clean the Alley of Ambassadors - said Dženan.

He added that, following the example of the Municipality of Stari Grad, other businessmen and organizations later came forward, offering them work, thanks to which they collected a total of 20,000 KM. He stated that they plan to establish an association that will continue to raise funds for students who cannot afford to go on trips based on these principles, and emphasized that this will exclusively be in return for students' work on various jobs in the future.
