BHRT and RTV FBiH Management Boards Discuss Measures to Mitigate Financial Crisis

(Patria) - The Management Boards of Radio Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) and Radio Television of FBiH, along with the general directors of these two public broadcasters, showed goodwill at today's meeting in seeking joint solutions to mitigate the critical financial situation, which primarily affects BHRT.

Due to RTRs's departure from the RTV fee revenue distribution system, BHRT has been deprived of over 100 million KM in the past nine years, leading to the financial collapse of this broadcaster.

Members of the management bodies and management of these two houses are aware of the fact that jeopardizing the work of BHRT also jeopardizes the broadcasting of RTV Federation of BiH.

The leadership of these two houses agrees to continue pressuring the authorities and the Office of the High Representative (OHR) to find a solution to avoid the shutdown of BHRT.

Furthermore, they insist that the Communications Regulatory Agency (RAK) declare its position on the new RTV fee amount, which has not changed since March 2013.

It was agreed at the meeting that a joint expert body will also propose a new price list for production and logistical services that BHRT provides to RTV Federation of BiH.

This price list has not been changed for a full twenty years. By establishing a realistic cost price, the extremely difficult financial situation of BHRT will be alleviated, it was stated during the meeting.
