ViK Management: 15 objections received for the tender

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Following an email sent by unknown individuals identifying themselves as Experienced Workers, parts of which were published by the Patria News Agency in the article "Despite a hundred complaints and the conclusion of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, new hirings in ViK", the management of this company has responded. 

"The Decree on the procedure for employment in institutes, agencies, directorates and administrative organizations, legal entities with public authority in the territory of the canton, city or municipality, in public institutions and public enterprises whose founders are the canton, city or municipality, as well as in business companies in which the canton, city or municipality participates with more than 50% of the total capital, which this Company is obliged to apply in the employment procedure, does not provide for the possibility in this specific case to extend contracts for workers who had fixed-term contracts that have expired in the meantime, as stated by the „experienced workers“ in the aforementioned email, based on the public advertisement for fixed-term employment, published on December 28, 2019.

Regarding the reference by „experienced workers“ to the NRW project (detection of leaks and reduction of non-revenue water), for which the Government of Sarajevo Canton gave its consent in 2017, and for which more than 90 workers were employed on a fixed-term basis in the previous period, we inform the public that 22 workers did not honor their concluded contracts, but worked in other positions to which they were assigned by the then director. These tasks were administrative in nature, which led to the abuse of the NRW project and a reduction in its effectiveness.

The email states that „about a hundred complaints were received from candidates“ regarding the tender procedure. Referring to this, we state that a total of 15 objections were received, of which only 2 objections, due to the time of arrival, have not been resolved. The decisions made by the competent authority, ruling on the submitted objections, have been sent to the submitters of the objections, and it is untrue that „candidates are still waiting for answers“. The management also emphasizes the fact that 565 applications were received for the advertised positions across all advertised roles.

The Labor and Occupational Safety Inspection of Sarajevo Canton recently conducted an inspection of the mentioned tender procedure and found no illegality or irregularity, and
the inspection reports, which the company possesses, confirm this.

The Office for Combating Corruption of Sarajevo Canton, the specially appointed supervisor, who was present throughout the entire tender procedure and who monitored the work of the Commission from its appointment, also found no irregularities concerning the proper conduct of the tender procedure or the application of the valid Decree on the procedure for employment and the work of the appointed Commission for the implementation of the procedure for the public advertisement published on December 28, 2019", is part of the response from the ViK Management.
