Warning in Sarajevo due to strong winds

(Patria) - The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton has issued a warning to all natural and legal persons in the canton, aiming at protection and rescue from strong winds and rainfall.

Given that the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a yellow warning for strong southern and southwestern winds, occasionally with storm-force gusts, for the period from today at 12:00 PM to Saturday, October 21st, at 12:00 PM, and that wind gusts of 50 to 80 km/h are possible, reaching up to 90 km/h in higher areas, and that the expected rainfall is between 40 and 80 l/m2, the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of KS warns the following:

"We warn all legal and natural persons to take necessary preventive protection measures against strong winds and rainfall (prepare adequate forces and material-technical resources for rapid response to the announced strong wind gusts and rainfall) as this will create conditions for more efficient and faster response of all entities in the protection and rescue system to potential challenges and threats from strong winds and floods, thereby avoiding significant material damage, as well as possible injuries and human casualties," stated the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of KS.

In addition, the administration specifically appeals to legal entities carrying out construction work not to leave objects that could fall from roofs, construction scaffolding, etc., due to strong winds, thus endangering the safety of passers-by.

"We also appeal to fellow citizens not to leave objects on their balconies and other open spaces that could endanger the safety of passers-by due to the wind, not to park their vehicles near large trees, and to avoid excursions and spending time in nature during the yellow warning period," reads the appeal from the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of KS.

As also stated by the administration, the appeal specifically applies to all municipal civil protection services in the Sarajevo Canton area.
