NUB BiH Employees: Thanks to FMON for the money, but it cannot be used for salaries, nor is there anyone to implement it

(Patria) - The Council of Employees of the National and University Library (NUB) of BiH issued a statement this evening regarding the information from the Federal Ministry of Education and Science (FMON) about the allocation of KM 360,107 to that institution.

The employees of NUB BiH stated in a post on their Facebook profile that they wish to inform the public about key facts, primarily that these dedicated funds are not a solution for salaries, and they question whether FMON will recognize the real needs of NUB and who is the authorized person to implement this money.

"The results of the fund allocation were published on October 16, 2024, on the FMON website. These funds, unlike in previous years, cannot be used for salary payments, which further complicates the Library's work.

Also, the amount is significantly reduced compared to last year's KM 550,000.

What is particularly problematic is the fact that the projects for which the funds are intended cannot be implemented because NUB BiH currently does not have an appointed director.

Without a director, it is impossible to sign and implement contracts, which calls into question the realization of vital projects.

We thank FMON for this support which will improve our work. However, we are currently unable to sign contracts until the new management structure is appointed.

We believe that publishing such news at a time when NUB BiH is going through a period when it needs maximum support to resolve management issues, is an additional pressure on the institution's already difficult functioning.

We call on the media to provide accurate and contextualized information and to recognize the importance of supporting this institution in preserving the cultural heritage of BiH," stated the Council of Employees of NUB BiH.
