NUB Employees: Urgently Form a New Management Body and Ensure the Normal Functioning of Our Institution

(Patria) - The Council of Employees of the National and University Library (NUB) of BiH today called on all relevant institutions to urgently take concrete steps to form a new management body of NUB and ensure the normal functioning of this key cultural institution.

The letter from the Council of Employees stated that since September 9, 2024, NUB has been without a signatory, jeopardizing the institution's functioning, and that the silence and ignorance of the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Dubravka Bošnjak, during this critical period is worrying and absurd.

NUB employees called on the Court of BiH and the High Representative to actively engage and provide the necessary assistance in resolving this issue, because "our country cannot afford the luxury of neglecting or postponing the resolution of issues related to the preservation of cultural identity and educational resources".

"If the management body of NUB is not formed as soon as possible, we will face numerous serious problems such as the disconnection of electricity, which will result in the suspension of services of the library system of BiH (COBISS.BH), the shutdown of the registry of scientific workers E-CRIS.BH, CIP, ISBN, ISSN, ISMN and DOI agencies, and the like," warned the Council of Employees of NUB in the letter.
