UPFBiH: House of Representatives of FBiH to Urgently Order the Government to Limit Electricity Price Increases

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Employers' Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent an initiative to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, Mirsad Zaimović, and all representatives for the urgent adoption of a conclusion ordering the Government of FBiH to make appropriate decisions to limit the increase in electricity prices for companies.

"The Government of FBiH is ordered, with the aim of protecting industrial production in FBiH, preserving jobs and the competitiveness of companies from FBiH, and preventing further disruptions in the supply chain for citizens in FBiH, to urgently take all necessary measures and, through management boards in public electric power companies in FBiH, adopt appropriate decisions to limit the increase in electricity prices for companies that are not supplied within the universal service," is the proposed conclusion submitted by UPFBiH to the Speaker and representatives of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH.

Among other things, the initiative states: "The increase in electricity prices for 2022 will bring most employers into a situation they will not be able to overcome, forcing them to 'shut down' production and lay off workers. For employers who place their goods on the domestic market, the only way to survive will be to increase the prices of their final products for the domestic market, which will significantly affect all other aspects of life in FBiH."

"The rise in the price of output products will directly affect the citizens of FBiH, as retail prices will increase, as well as the export competitiveness of companies, thereby again jeopardizing their operations," the initiative states.
