
(Patria) - The promotion of Doctors of Science of the University of Sarajevo was held this evening at the National Theatre. 42 new Doctors of Science were promoted from humanities, social sciences, medical, technical, and natural sciences, and biotechnical sciences.
The Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, told reporters that for any university in the world, including the University of Sarajevo, the most significant thing is when it promotes its graduates, masters, and doctoral students.
"This is a moment when we, in a festive atmosphere, mark one of the University's most important achievements. We are proud to promote 42 new Doctors of Science today in technical, humanities, social sciences, medical, bio-technical, and natural sciences," said Zaimović.
He added that this represents an immeasurable contribution to the University in every sense.
"Some of them will stay to work at the University, some will become an important segment of the social community. Certainly, their scientific achievements will, in a way, change the perspective of how we view things. We, as a University, insist most on scientific excellence, and scientific excellence arises precisely from our doctoral students," emphasized Rector Zaimović.
A doctoral student from the Faculty of Health Studies, Merim Jusufbegović, said that he plans to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"I am directing all my focus and energy to our country, with our people and our resources," he stated.
A doctoral student from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo, Selma Dizdar, said that people who ask questions, seek answers, and push the boundaries of knowledge.
"By pushing the boundaries of knowledge, we provide ideas that can improve our lives, not just our lives as individuals, but society as a whole. Through these doctorates, my colleagues and I have provided numerous ideas on how we can improve life in all areas of our daily lives," said Dizdar.
She expressed hope that through her example, she will show all generations that knowledge, work, and education pay off and that one can live a very good life from it in this beautiful country and homeland of ours.
"Through our example, we will also encourage our young generations to stay here and work for the betterment of our community and homeland," emphasized Dizdar.
The University of Sarajevo promoted: seven candidates for Doctor of Technical Sciences; six candidates for Doctor of Medical Sciences; three candidates each for Doctor of Security Sciences, Criminological Sciences, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. Two candidates each were promoted to Doctor of Educational Sciences and Legal Sciences, and one candidate each to Doctor of Economic Sciences, Communication Sciences, Political Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Psychological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Doctor of Science in the field of Social/Humanities Sciences, field of Educational Sciences and Pedagogy.
