University of Sarajevo Awards 168 Prizes for Top Scientific and Artistic Achievements in 2024

(Patria) - The premises of the University of Sarajevo Rectorate hosted a ceremony today for the awarding of prizes for scientific and artistic work, as well as achievements in sports and its development for 2024. In accordance with the Rulebook on Rewarding Academic and Scientific Research Staff of the University of Sarajevo, 168 members of the academic and scientific research staff from all constituent members of the University of Sarajevo have been awarded for exceptional results achieved in 2024.

"The University of Sarajevo recognizes the importance of the engagement and research results achieved by young researchers, and we are making efforts to create a stimulating environment for their effort and dedication. Based on the amendments to the Rulebook on Recognitions and Awards of the University of Sarajevo, initiated through the Council for Science and Arts, and aimed at recognizing and rewarding the scientific achievements of doctoral students, today we are also awarding 20 young researchers with a special Recognition of the Rector of the University of Sarajevo for scientific research work results in doctoral studies in 2024," stated Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Rector of the University of Sarajevo, adding that the high bar set for awards serves as a strong motivation to work together on creating even better conditions for achieving excellent results, as well as for their publication and promotion, in the interest and benefit of the academic community, the professional public, the business and non-governmental sectors, and society as a whole.

Awards were presented for artistic work, work in the field of humanities of national importance, as well as for exceptional achievements in sports and contributions to its development, thereby confirming the University of Sarajevo's commitment to the importance of holistic academic, cultural, and sports activities. The University of Sarajevo also awards
a prize for a monograph of special scientific and national importance in the B/H/S language for 2024.

The initiative to award university staff was launched in 2017, based on the results of scientific and artistic work, the Rulebook on Rewarding was adopted, and in the first year of its application, 26 authors were awarded.
