UNIS Group waits until tomorrow, fight for rights follows

The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided on Wednesday that the export of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine is not in the foreign policy interest of BiH, thereby halting the agreed export from the Sarajevo-based company UNIS Group to Ukraine, worth around 10 million KM.

Although this move will cause significant material damage to UNIS Group, sources close to the BiH Presidency said that the Presidency assessed that the damage to BiH would be much greater if the weapons were exported to Ukraine.

From UNIS Group, it was confirmed to Patria that the management has not yet taken a stance on how to further fight for their rights. The company's management will inform the public during tomorrow's day about what steps they will take next to protect the company and its workers.

Although the export of weapons and armaments by UNIS Group to Ukraine was practically agreed upon, it was halted by the sudden resignation of Boris Tučić, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH. Soon after, a threat from the Russian Federation followed that it would stop the export of energy resources to BiH if the export of weapons to Ukraine occurred.

The BiH Presidency holds the position that the export of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine at this moment is not in the foreign policy interest of our country. The BiH Presidency, among other things, stated that this would not contribute to regional security, stability, and current international diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, reports NAP.
