Nikola Grabovac dies: Bosnia and Herzegovina loses a great expert and patriot

(Patria) - Nikola Grabovac (1943) died yesterday, and the commemoration will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 12:15 PM at the Bare Commemorative Center, after which Grabovac will be buried at the Bare city cemetery.

Prof. Dr. Nikola Grabovac was born in Bugojno, where he completed primary and secondary economic school. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb in 1965, earned his master's degree at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo in 1976, and received his doctorate there in 1988.

He taught at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo as a full professor (2002-2008) in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, teaching courses in Marketing, Trade Enterprise Management, Hospitality Enterprise Operations, Sales and Sales Management. He served as Rector (Open University APEIRON Travnik, from 2008), Rector of the University of Vitez Travnik, and was a visiting professor at several universities in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He wrote and published several books used as literature at the Faculty of Economics. He is also the author of numerous studies, analyses, and scientific and professional papers.

He worked at Žitorod, Privrednik, was commercial director of GP Igman, head of economy in the Centar Municipality, general director of Alhos...

He also served as a member of the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Minister of Trade in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (1995-1997), Minister of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and member of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (2001-2002).

He also served as President of the Assembly of the Self-Managing Interest Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Economic Relations with Foreign Countries, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Yugoslavia, President of the Assembly of the Textile Industry of Yugoslavia, President of the Industrial Clothing Industry of Yugoslavia, etc.

For his professional and volunteer work, he was awarded the Order of Labor with a Silver Wreath in 1975.

He was also awarded the Prize for Best Professor at the Faculty of Economics Sarajevo (student choice).

The last farewell to Grabovac was given by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić.

- Professor Grabovac's contribution to the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as his work through his mandates as Federal Minister of Trade, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Minister of Finance, will never fade. With the passing of Nikola Grabovac, Bosnia and Herzegovina has lost a great expert and patriot, stated in the last farewell of Prime Minister Novalić.
