Muamer Zukorlić passed away

(Patria) - Muamer Zukorlić, former Sandžak mufti, passed away at the age of 51.

As announced, death occurred due to heart problems.

He was born in 1970 in the village of Orlje near Tutin. He was the president and chief mufti of the Islamic Community in Serbia and the deputy speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia. He graduated from the Faculty of Islamic Studies (Sharia Law department) in Algeria, completed postgraduate studies in Lebanon, and speaks Arabic fluently. He is the founder and first rector of the International University in Novi Pazar, where, together with the reis-ul-ulema Mustafa Cerić, he also founded the Bosniak Academy of Sciences and Arts, thus becoming an academic. He is the holder of the project of transforming the branch of the Alaudin Madrasa from Priština into an independent madrasa "Gazi Isa-beg" in Novi Pazar in 1994. He is the founder of the "Gazi Isa-beg" madrasa for girls in Novi Pazar in 1996 and its branch in Rožaje in 2002.
