(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković, in a letter addressed to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, strongly condemned the events caused by the glorification of war crimes and the war criminal, General of the Army of Republika Srpska Ratko Mladić, convicted of genocide in Srebrenica, which occurred in the social media posts of two female students from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Konaković assessed their posts as unacceptable.
However, Konaković did not actually send a protest note with this action, which he should have sent to the Embassy of Serbia in BiH, or delivered it personally to the ambassador. This way, it is just an ordinary letter, which is not the practice in diplomatic relations.
"I am surprised that instead of condemning such behavior, I am learning from the media that for their reward, not for their special engagement in academic terms and good results, but for glorifying war crimes, the Republic of Serbia has decided to grant them scholarships for further education in Belgrade," the letter states.
He emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is undoubtedly committed to developing good neighborly relations and improving regional cooperation, and reminded that on the occasion of the recent massacre of innocent children in the primary school "Vladislav Ribnikar" in Belgrade, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed deep sympathy and declared a day of mourning throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"I expect an approach of respect for the victims and sympathy for the families of those killed in the genocide in Srebrenica, not an approach where the institutions of the Republic of Serbia provide refuge and reward those who glorify war crimes and criminals," emphasized Minister Konaković.
In the letter addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, the Minister requested an official position from the Republic of Serbia regarding the announcement that the institutions of the Republic of Serbia are ready to provide scholarships for the glorification of war crimes.
