Instead of Imposing Consociation, It's Time for Action and Creating a Democratic Future for BiH!

(Patria) - The past year 2023 ended with the advocacy of open irredentism of Greater Serbian politics in Bosnia. This irredentist policy serves the idea of a "Serbian world", the latest morbid packaging of the old idea of "Greater Serbia", stated, among other things, Professor Senadin Lavić at the annual press conference of Krug 99.

"The insidious imposition of consociation as a political model that maintains the apartheid of a minority over the majority has continued. In this direction, there is a constant "transformation of an ethnic" group into a "political community" or "political coalitions" into "ethno-religious coalitions", which leads to schizophrenic and perverse social conditions. Thus, for example, one ethnic group uses a veto in political practice to block other groups, the state, the system, development, and progress. An "ethnic group" with a veto in the political sphere destroys the order and presents it as ethnocracy. The planned devastation of state institutions and the judicial system, constitutional democracy, the rule of law, a pluralistic secular society, the meaning of education for young people, and the attempt to transfer the entire system into the hands of two or three "leaders" as omnipotent rulers are at play. This is an attempt to realize the consociation model as interpreted by M. Kasapović and HDZ," Lavić pointed out and added:

"Cheap ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY is offered to citizens as a consolation for insecurity and lost peace. Turbo-folk culture corresponds to the era of ethnofascism, expansive nationalism, manipulation of ethno-religious groups, the era of wars and blind following of leaders. The biggest cultural events are female singers who fill arenas and halls across the region," Lavić believes.

"The genocide in Bosnia continues by other means. For more than two decades, Greater Serbian ethno-technique of humiliation and insult has been ongoing as part of the process of psychocide, which should finish off the entire population of Bosnian Muslims and discourage them from continuing to develop their own cultural form or Bosnian social sphere in the form of a Bosnian nation. Psychocide in peacetime appears as a specialized, hybrid technique of ethnofaulism, which constantly maintains conflict, tension, hatred, drama, danger, and fear. It is captivity in trauma. All of this should legitimize total insecurity and the dysfunctionality of the system, so emigration becomes a "normal" way of resolving the existence of thousands of people," concluded Prof. Lavić.

Prof. Dr. David Pettigrew emphasizes: "In 2024, the international community must no longer ignore the right to commemorate the surviving victims of genocidal war crimes, nor ignore the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. This only gives in to nationalists who benefit from human rights violations and anti-democratic principles. Such inaction has fueled hate speech against Muslims and secession threats, as well as the vision of uniting all Serbs in the Serbian world. Milorad Dodik only recently threatened that secession is inevitable, and that a civic state is a "Muslim" deception".

"With this racist remark, Dodik added that only Serbs are capable of creating a state. Not preventing the "Day of Republika Srpska" and stopping such hate speech are just two examples of the consequences of yielding to ethno-nationalist goals at the expense of democracy and human rights in BiH. It is time for action to ensure human rights and a democratic future in BiH," concluded Pettigrew, a professor of philosophy and Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Southern Connecticut State University, a member of the Governing Board of the Genocide Studies Program at Yale University.
