Is the Sarajevo Canton entering a financial blockade?

(Patria) - Two sessions of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly have been scheduled for today, January 8. One was called by the old majority, more precisely what remains of it (People and Justice, Our Party, SDP BiH, NBL), and the other, without an official seal, by the new majority consisting of SDA, SBB, and DF.

There is a possibility that the session of the four-party coalition may lack a quorum altogether, as they have 15 representatives. On the other hand, at the session called by Mirza Čelik, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Edin Forto, i.e., the Government of Sarajevo Canton as the proposer of the agenda items, will not appear, making that session also questionable. There is a justified fear that the Sarajevo Canton could find itself in a legal and financial blockade if decisions enabling the normal functioning of the Sarajevo Canton and its institutions are not adopted.

Danijela Kristić from People and Justice, following the withdrawal of Elmedin Konaković, was elected Chairperson of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly. The official document with a seal was published on her Facebook profile.

Representatives should vote on the Decision on Temporary Financing, as neither the rebalance for 2019 nor the budget for 2020 have been adopted.

The question remains who will chair the session, Danijela Kristić or Mirza Čelik? The new majority will leave the session if Čelik does not preside.
