(Patria) - The worrying trend of an increasing number of pensioners continued in November. Compared to the number of pensioners in October, 1,814 more pensioners will receive their November pension.
According to data from the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO/MIO), 455,170 beneficiaries will receive their November pension, with a total of approximately 290 million KM required for the payout.
In October, 453,356 pensioners received their pension, and the month before that, 452,201 beneficiaries.
However, the number of pensioners is increasing month by month, while the number of employed individuals is not following this trend, and the gap between the number of employed and the number of pensioners in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is narrowing, which is ultimately an unsustainable system.
It is no secret that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina provides some financial resources to the PIO/MIO Fund to ensure timely pension payments.
Last month, pensioners received a one-time assistance payment of 100 and 50 KM for beneficiaries with pensions up to 1,000 KM. However, no one is talking about pension increases yet.
Although pensioner associations were preparing protests in front of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the unfavorable position of this population group, the exact date has not yet been specified, and the resignations of the leaders of the Pensioners' Union have further slowed down the preparation of the protests.
