The wife of a deceased man from Nikšić removed his body from a grave in the village of Jelenak near Danilovgrad in Montenegro and illegally took it to Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the news agency Patria.
Locals who found an empty coffin near the cemetery initially thought the body had been stolen by members of a sect, but the police determined it was the work of his wife.
The incident occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday, and the woman crossed the border of Montenegro with her husband's corpse and took it to Doboj. It is suspected that she had help from someone in the municipal services.
