(Patria) - Following the order of the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection and in cooperation with the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas of KS, the controversial sign erected at the entrance to East Sarajevo by the Mayor of East Sarajevo, Ljubiša Ćosić, on June 30, 2023, was removed this morning.
After checks were carried out, it was determined that the sign on the M5 highway with the inscription "Welcome to the City of East Sarajevo, the City of 157,000 Serbs who had to leave Sarajevo" is located in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This morning, workers from the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas arrived at the scene and removed the controversial sign.
- This sign was erected in the protected areas of KS, illegally, without a permit, without any consent. It is located in the territory of the Federation of BiH, i.e., the Canton of Sarajevo.
All the documents we have collected indicate that this was illegally erected in the territory of the FBiH, and that is why it is being removed.
Regardless of the content of the sign, the important thing is that it was illegally erected within KS, i.e., protected areas - said Minister Almir Bečarević, who was on site.
