BiH included: US Congress adopted the European Energy Security Act

(Patria) - The European Energy Security and Diversification Act of 2019, which was submitted to the US Congress on February 28, was adopted in the Congress and sent to the Senate on March 26.

Last year, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo promised Ukraine continued joint fight against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which, in his opinion, undermines European security. The Act prioritizes efforts and improves coordination among US agencies to encourage European countries to diversify their energy sources and supply routes, increase the energy security of European countries, and help the United States achieve its global energy security goals, reports the Patria agency.

This Act also includes Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the list comprises 42 European countries, which should be provided with diplomatic, political, and technical support, facilitation of international negotiations regarding cross-border infrastructure, and improvement of the regulatory environment of European countries in terms of energy.
It also envisages developing affordable, transparent, and competitive energy markets supplied by diverse sources, types, and routes of energy, and providing support for improving European energy markets, including support for early-stage projects and support for later-stage projects, for building or improving energy infrastructure.

Support for later-stage projects includes loans, guarantees, insurance, reinsurance, and equity investments, writes Patria.
