(Patria) - The Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection has lifted the "Warning" episode for the entire Sarajevo Canton area, following an improvement in air quality.
As announced, the occurrence of moderate to strong winds, along with the absence of temperature inversion, has enabled the dispersion of previously accumulated pollutants in the Sarajevo basin.
Although yesterday's data from monitoring stations showed elevated average values of PM₁₀ particles, and exceeding concentrations of nitrogen dioxide at the Otoka station, today's measurements indicate a significant and continuous decrease in pollutant concentrations.
According to the report of the Expert Body, moderate to strong southerly winds are currently blowing, with speeds of four to 12 meters per second, with no temperature inversion. Its further strengthening is expected, which should lead to the complete clearing of the air over Sarajevo.
The synoptic situation is unstable, and the announced precipitation in the afternoon and evening hours will further contribute to the reduction of pollutant concentrations.
In some areas, such as Ilijaš, occasional fluctuations are possible, but significantly lower concentrations are also expected there compared to previous days.
