(Patria) - At the proposal of the Ministry of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection, the Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted a Decision to cancel the "Alert" episode which had been in effect since Friday in the area of four city municipalities and the municipality of Ilidža, due to a significant improvement in air quality.
Given the tendency of a decrease in pollutants, as well as the announced weather conditions for the next day which will lead to air purification, the Ministry has also cancelled the "Warning" for the entire Canton. All previously prescribed restrictive measures will cease to be valid.
The significant improvement in air quality was due to a change in atmospheric conditions, namely an increase in the height of the inversion layer and strengthening winds, which contributed to the continued decrease in concentrations yesterday.
Current PM10 values in the Sarajevo basin have significantly decreased compared to the previous day.
Although temperature inversion is still partially present, the synoptic forecast indicates that an unstable meteorological situation will begin tomorrow, characterized by a change in wind direction and an increase in temperature due to southerly winds.
Intensive monitoring of air quality and meteorological conditions will continue, as will informing the public about the application of all available measures provided for in the Plan, the Ministry stated.
