Detention of Dijana Hrkalović Lifted

(Patria) - Former secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Dijana Hrkalović, has been released from detention.

She left the detention unit and went to her apartment, reports B92.

The investigation against her was completed on Thursday, all witnesses were heard, and yesterday a decision was expected to be made for her release from detention.

She had been in detention at the Central Prison since October 15 on suspicion of influencing the head of the department for special investigative methods, Dejan Milenković Bagzi, to not timely submit certain reports to the prosecutor's office regarding the murder of Vlastimir Milošević, known as the case of the "murder on the tram tracks," for which Veljko Belivuk was charged and later acquitted, and who is now charged with five murders.

"All 20 witnesses have been heard, witnesses related to Bagzi, not to her. They kept her in detention based on point two, which is that she would not influence witnesses," said her lawyer Ahmed Delimeđac. He added that "witness hearings are constantly being repeated."

"Those 20 witnesses did not even mention her. They no longer have grounds to keep her, any further detention of her is illegal," claims Hrkalović's lawyer.

Dijana Hrkalović, it should be recalled, was again questioned at the end of November at the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime as part of the expanded investigation against her for influence peddling, it was said in that prosecutor's office.

"Dijana Hrkalović is accused of illegally ordering the wiretapping of Darko Elez," it was reported to Blic.
