KS Budget for 2025 Presented: No Reduction in Maternity Benefits

(Patria) - KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk presented the Draft Budget of KS for 2025 at today's session of the KS Assembly. The budget is proposed at 1.88 billion KM.

The Prime Minister stated that projects for free textbooks, subsidies for kindergartens, and extended stays will continue. Three new kindergartens will open this year.

He also announced new investments in Bjelašnica, through ZOI '84. In the Ministry of Health, further infrastructural projects and service improvements are planned. Regarding the Ministry of Economy of KS, projects for introducing new airline routes will continue.

Speaking about social benefits, Uk emphasized that there will be no reduction in maternity benefits in the Sarajevo Canton, regardless of changes to the Law on Social Protection.

"I can tell you that there will be no reduction in maternity benefits," Uk said.

Uk stated that the minimum wage has increased, which has also led to an increase in the average wage, to which social benefits, severance pay, and meal allowances are tied.

He announced the procurement of additional equipment for the Sarajevo police.

"The construction of the new MUP KS building is starting. We look forward to the arrival of the helicopter, expected at the beginning of next year," Uk said.

He particularly highlighted projects to assist the veteran population, announcing new content and the opening of a museum.

Regarding the Ministry of Transport of KS, he stressed that new trams have been purchased and a new tram line to Hrasnica is under construction.

"Purchase of additional trams, buses. In the coming weeks, we are opening a trolleybus line to Vogošća. The Southern Longitudinal is a focus," Uk said.

He noted that an agreement has been reached with the unions, and an increased base of 400 KM has been factored into this budget.

KS Minister of Finance Afan Kalamujić stated that some funds were carried over from the previous year that were not spent.

The debt of Sarajevo Canton currently stands at 640 million KM.

Kalamujić stated that a rebalance of the Budget will also be carried out in accordance with the Budget execution and all laws that will be adopted.
