Uk Explains Resignation and Lists Projects Completed by KS Government in Six Months, Confirms New Political Majority

(Patria) - The KS Assembly is currently considering the Proposal for a Decision on accepting the resignation of the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton and the Proposal for a Decision on dismissing the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

Head of the SDA Club Mahir Dević requested that Prime Minister Nihad Uk, who submitted his resignation, be allowed to make introductory remarks, which Uk did.

"On October 9th, I submitted my resignation with the aim of reconstructing the KS Government. The sole reason is the lack of confidence in this KS Government. This lack of confidence has manifested itself multiple times, and in the meantime, a new majority has emerged. I want to sincerely thank all members of the Government from this platform because we have done a great job in these six months," said Uk, listing all the projects by departments that were completed in the past period.

He spoke about the reconstruction of the tram line, the cornerstone for the UNSA library, programs for the most vulnerable categories, programs for the veteran population, and the improvement of healthcare.

"I am not satisfied with all the things we have done. One of them is the cleanliness of the city of Sarajevo. We have not made progress on this issue. In this regard, the establishment of the Municipal Police will be of great help to us, as we have not succeeded in this in the past six months," said Uk.

Vedrana Vujović, a DF representative, asked on what basis a positive opinion is given for acceptance.

"On what basis did you conclude that there is no parliamentary majority? We have shown that a majority exists, we have adopted laws, we have rejected reports for those who did not perform well. A parliamentary majority is demonstrated by voting no confidence in the KS Government," said Vujović.

Dević had several questions for Uk.

"Are you, Prime Minister, resigning in order to unconstitutionally dismiss ministers from the Party for BiH? Will you be the candidate for the formation of the Government again? If the answer is yes, do you believe you can be both Prime Minister and candidate simultaneously? Two completely overlapping legal situations for at least 15 days. Do you believe that if you resign, it is ethical to be a candidate again?" asked Dević.

Prime Minister Uk stated that there is still no work program for either the KS Government or the KS Assembly for the year 2023.

Responding to Representative Dević's questions, he said that any citizen could be a candidate, and he does not wish to prejudge who the candidate will be.

"The parliamentary majority will propose the name of the candidate. Whether it is ethical to be both Prime Minister and candidate, it is and it is not," said Uk.

The Prime Minister stated that there is a new political majority in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton.
