Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday Morning

(Patria) - By moving the clock hands back one hour, from 3 AM to 2 AM, daylight saving time ends on Sunday and winter time begins.

Daylight saving time begins on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October. In the former SFRY, it was first introduced on March 27, 1983.

The clock change in Western Europe was introduced in the early seventies, with the explanation that it "extends" the day, enables savings in electricity consumption, increases productivity, improves human adaptation, and makes the workday more efficient.

Today, 110 out of 192 countries worldwide use daylight saving time, and it is not used in China, Japan, South Korea, and across the African continent. Most countries that use it are in Europe and North America.

There is still no consensus on the European Commission's proposal from four years ago to abolish the seasonal clock change on the last Sunday of March or October.

The European Parliament supported the proposal in 2018, but member states have not yet adopted it.
