Ujić: Illegal migration in BiH under best control ever

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Director of the BiH Service for Foreigners' Affairs Slobodan Ujić claims that illegal migration is fully under control this year, better than ever before.

- Control over the movement and stay of foreigners in BiH has never been better. Everything is under full control, both from a security perspective and every other aspect that accompanies illegal migration. It is true that the pressure and daily influx have decreased, because two or three new Balkan routes have been opened - said Ujić.

These are two land routes - via Romania and Hungary, and one sea route, and Ujić says that the situation in these areas is particularly affected by these two illegal land routes, which has weakened the migrant pressure.

- Border guards are certainly controlling the border better because of this - said Ujić, adding that he believes the migration problem will persist in the coming years.

The greatest pressure since the beginning of the migrant crisis, i.e., since around 2018, has been in BiH in the Una-Sana Canton, where several reception facilities, or temporary reception centers for migrants, have been opened.

The latest data indicate that around 1,000 people are accommodated in the centers "Lipa" and "Borići" in the Bihać area, and "Miral" in Velika Kladuša.
