NBL and SDU Unite

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of NBL Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and President of SDU BiH Nermin Pećanac signed an Agreement on the unification of political parties, according to which a certain number of SDU BiH members will be co-opted into the Main Board and Presidency of NBL, and in the upcoming general elections, all previously determined candidates of SDU BiH for all levels of government will run within the NBL lists.

President of NBL Ibrahim Hadžibajrić stated that the political list he leads has never succumbed to the templates characteristic of most political parties, so it is not surprising that they are the first to start unifying parties.

- Our goal is to show that things can be done differently, that we can put aside our egos or disagreements and unite for a common appearance in elections and a higher goal. This is not a coalition, this is the unification of two political options into one, and this is an example of how others should behave if we want good for this country and its people - said Hadžibajrić.

The former president of SDU, Nermin Pećanac, agreed that this is the path to follow, and stated that the founder of SDU, Nijaz Duraković, back in 2007, at the Second Congress of the party, called for unification of the opposition and all civic-oriented parties.

- I have often emphasized that the opposition, its disunity, egos, and mutual competition, are largely responsible for the current state of the country. The unification of NBL and SDU is the first step in overcoming this situation. We are proof that it can be done differently and that only by uniting pro-Bosnian oriented parties can we oppose the current government and the national concept that has brought us to where we are today - said Pećanac.
