ITA calls on FBiH Government over Zijad Krnjić's vote and urges adoption of the Rulebook to enable opening of Gradiška Border Crossing

(Patria) - The Indirect Taxation Authority once again calls on all relevant factors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to urgently contribute to creating all necessary conditions for the Gradiška Novi Most border crossing to be opened for international passenger and freight traffic, in a way that the ITA Management Board adopts the Amendments to the Rulebook on the Internal Organisation of the ITA today or tomorrow during the day.

The ITA also calls on the Government of the Federation of BiH to urgently get involved in resolving this problem, given that the expert on the ITA Management Board, Mr. Zijad Krnjić, was appointed by the aforementioned Government.

According to official data, over four million passengers and over one million vehicles cross the Gradiška border crossing annually, and a significant number among them are citizens and businesses from the Federation of BiH. We remind once again, the Amendment to the Rulebook establishing a new organisational unit, the Customs Office at the Gradiška Novi Most border crossing, is a prerequisite for undertaking activities to fulfil other conditions necessary for the functioning of the customs service at this location, which require assigning a border crossing code to know where goods entered/exited Bosnia and Herzegovina, providing IT support at the new location and access to the customs application, creating a seal for the new organisational unit, integrating the new border crossing into the NCTS system (New Computerised Transit System), integration into the TIR and ATA systems, and other conditions that must be ensured for conducting customs procedures, the fulfilment of which depends on the prior establishment of the competent organisational unit.

Given that the Management Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority did not adopt the Amendments to the Rulebook on the Internal Organisation of the ITA, the conditions for opening the new Gradiška Novi Most – Gornji Varoš border crossing have not been met.

The Indirect Taxation Authority needs 48 hours from the moment of adopting the Rulebook on Amendments to the Rulebook on the Internal Organisation of the ITA, in order to fulfil the aforementioned conditions and have everything ready for the start of operations of the new Gradiška Novi Most – Gornji Varoš border crossing.
