UIO: Over 3,700 tons of aid crossed the border since the start of floods in BiH

Since the start of the floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina until yesterday, a total of 561 vehicles carrying humanitarian aid to BiH were registered at border crossings, the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH announced, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The total weight of all humanitarian aid shipments is 3,716,663.46 kg, or more than 3,700 tons of aid!

Regarding the types of goods imported as humanitarian aid, the majority are food items, water, clothing and footwear, baby food and diapers, and various hygiene products.

- The Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH (at border crossings, customs offices, and customs procedure groups) prioritizes customs procedures for international aid shipments, while adhering to the prescribed rules of the required customs procedure - it was announced.

Shipments of international humanitarian aid sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina must be accompanied by a list (specification) of goods, which should include information about the sender, recipient, type, quantity, and value of the goods. It is important to emphasize that the recipient of such a shipment can be a registered humanitarian organization in BiH, a public administration body in BiH, or a public organization in BiH.

In addition, the documentation accompanying the international aid shipment must clearly indicate that it is a free shipment, which can be a separate declaration from the sender or a note on the list (specification) of goods itself stating that it is donated for humanitarian purposes for areas affected by floods in BiH.

- The Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH previously decided that the customs offices of Bihać, Gradiška, Brod, Orašje, Brčko, Zvornik, Trebinje, Sarajevo, as well as the airports of Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and Tuzla, will operate 24 hours a day for all humanitarian shipments intended for areas affected by floods in BiH, in order to clear these shipments as quickly as possible and deliver them to their intended destinations. We also appeal to all freight forwarders conducting customs procedures to make their maximum contribution and assist all importers bringing humanitarian aid to BiH - say the UIO BiH.
