UIO Seizes Cut Tobacco and Cigarettes

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Regional Center Banja Luka, in two separate operational activities in the area of the municipality of Šamac and Velika Kladuša seized a larger quantity of cut tobacco and cigarettes without excise stamps, valued at 68,000 KM.

Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Regional Center Banja Luka, the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors, acting in accordance with intelligence data from the Intelligence Group of RC Banja Luka, found a larger quantity of excise products (cut tobacco) and a tobacco cutting machine, without documentation of origin, in the area of the municipality of Šamac. Also, during that time, a certain quantity of leaf tobacco was found, which was handed over by the officers of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors of RC Banja Luka to the jurisdiction of the Agricultural Inspectorate of the RS, which temporarily seized the disputed goods.

In another separate operation, officers of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors of the Regional Center Banja Luka, acting in accordance with intelligence data from the Intelligence Group of RC Banja Luka, also found a larger quantity of excise products (cut tobacco and cigarettes of various manufacturers) without excise stamps and documentation of origin in the area of the municipality of Velika Kladuša, which were temporarily seized.

During the implementation of the mentioned operational activities, approximately 260 kg of cut tobacco, a tobacco cutting machine, approximately 250 kg of leaf tobacco, and 521 packs of cigarettes of various manufacturers, without excise stamps and documentation of origin, were seized. The market value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at approximately 68,000.00 KM. In the field activities, authorized UIO officers used specialized equipment donated to the Authority by the Government of the USA through the EXBS Program.
