UIO BiH: Hidden pistol discovered in a car

Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority carried out an operation codenamed "BASTER" at the Šamac border crossing and seized a hidden pistol. Conducting intensified control of goods and passenger traffic during the upcoming holidays, officers of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offenses of the Tuzla Regional Center carried out an operation codenamed "BASTER", reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

At the Šamac border crossing, upon entry into BiH, a control was carried out on a passenger motor vehicle VW Sharan, with BiH license plates, driven by person A.S.

With the help of equipment donated by the US Government through the EXBS program, authorized officers of the UIO conducted an in-depth inspection of the vehicle and found a hidden gas starting pistol model ZORAK 917-T 9mm, which belonged to the passenger K.A., from whom it was temporarily seized. Further inspection of the vehicle also revealed other hidden items such as: phones (iPhone and Samsung), kitchen knives, blood pressure monitors, and other goods that were not declared for regular customs clearance.

Against the perpetrator of the described illegalities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offenses of BiH, a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be submitted before the competent court.
